CogniFit Says “Hola” to Spanish-Speakers Seeking Brain Fitness
Brain Fitness Software Leader Launches Spanish-Language Software, Website
NEW YORK, January 18, 2010 – CogniFit®, Inc., a leading maker of Brain Fitness Software (www.cognifit.com), launched CogniFit Personal Coach and a new website for Spanish-speaking users. The new software and website, at http://www.cognifit.com/es, will allow CogniFit to provide the large Latino community in the United States with comprehensive and up-to-date information about brain fitness, as well as brain training software in Spanish targeted at improving cognitive functions crucial to their everyday lives.
“Brain fitness and neuroplasticity are hot topics that will impact healthcare, insurance and longevity for all Americans, no matter their native tongue,” said Alvaro Fernandez of market researcher SharpBrains. “It is heartening to see innovative companies pay attention to the cognitive fitness needs of the growing Latino community.”
Although some brain fitness exercises are language-independent, for exercises such as naming, language is an essential element. The new Spanish-language version of CogniFit Personal Coach will allow Latinos to participate in the entire range of tasks available through the software. The Spanish website’s content will also include all of the scientific and product information that is currently available on the English website. CogniFit plans to launch French and German websites in 2010 as well.
“Dr. Breznitz founded CogniFit with the goal of providing brain fitness to help adults lead an active and healthy life,” said Michal Frenkiel, Vice President, Marketing at CogniFit. “Offering CogniFit Personal Coach to the large number of U.S. Spanish-speakers in their first language is a big step in helping us to achieve this goal on a larger scale.”
Latinos are one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. population, and some studies have indicated that Latino people may be more susceptible to Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Latinos also seem to show symptoms of Alzheimer's about seven years earlier than non-Latino Americans. Brain fitness is thought to build cognitive reserves, which can delay or decrease the symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
CogniFit Personal Coach tailors scientifically-validated cognitive training to meet the specific needs of individuals and adjusts the difficulty of the exercises during training to suit them. As a result, people using CogniFit software are challenged enough to improve their abilities – including Naming, Focused Attention, Visual Spatial Memory, Mental Flexibility and Executive Functions – but not frustrated by the software’s difficulty level. As users’ skills improve, the training also evolves.
